Real care for real people.

Psychiatric care for teens and adults — thoughtful, personalized, and grounded in understanding the whole person.

Who We Are
& What We Do

“Care that meets you where you are.”

Hi, I’m Kristen.

I take a thoughtful, personalized approach to care, creating a space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, mood changes, or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together to help you feel more like yourself again.

Our Beleif

There’s usually more going on
than it seems.

When something feels off, it’s rarely just one thing. Your brain, your body, and your life all interact, and we look at the full picture.

Brain & Biology

When your mind feels off- focus, mood, or energy just aren’t where they should be.

Hormones & Cycles

Patterns tied to your cycle, life stage, or shifts that feel hard to explain.

Stress & Real Life

The weight of everything you’re carrying , even when it “shouldn’t” feel this hard.
The next step is understanding how this shows up for you.

Topics

Does any of this feel familiar?

Not everything shows up as a clear problem. Sometimes it’s a subtle shift – feeling off, overwhelmed, or not quite like yourself, without a clear reason why. If you’ve been carrying that feeling, you’re not alone. You may see parts of yourself reflected here:

Mood, Stress & Emotional Health

A shift in how you feel, sometimes subtle, sometimes overwhelming, often hard to explain.

Learn More
  • Feeling off, disconnected, or not like yourself
  • Mood changes that feel disproportionate or difficult to steady
  • Irritability, heaviness, or emotional fatigue
  • Changes related to stress, life transitions, or hormonal shifts
  • The quiet sense that your emotions are leading, rather than you

Focus, ADHD & Mental Overload

Knowing what needs to be done, but feeling unable to get there.

Learn More
  • Starting tasks feels harder than it should
  • Focus slips, even when something matters to you
  • Mental clutter, distraction, or difficulty following through
  • Tasks build up, creating pressure or overwhelm
  • Holding yourself to a high standard, but struggling to meet it

Anxiety, OCD & Overthinking

A mind that doesn’t easily rest.

Learn More
  • Thoughts that loop, race, or feel difficult to quiet
  • Constant “what ifs” or worst-case thinking
  • Feeling on edge, tense, or unable to fully relax
  • Repetitive thoughts or behaviors that are hard to interrupt
  • Trouble being present, even when things are “okay”

How Care Works

“Medication management, thoughtfully done”

Care that goes beyond prescriptions. We take the time to understand what you’re experiencing, talk through patterns, and support real-life change, while using medication when it’s helpful.

01

We start with the full picture

We look beyond symptoms to understand your history, patterns, and what’s been helping, or not.

02

We build a plan that fits you

Treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. We consider lifestyle, patterns, and medication together, so your care actually fits your life.

03

Medication is used thoughtfully

If medication is appropriate, we take a careful approach, starting low, going slow, and making decisions together.

04

We adjust as you go

Care is ongoing and evolves over time. We check in regularly and adjust based on how you’re actually feeling.

We take the time to listen and understand, without rushing decisions.

Kristen is truly one of a kind. From the first appointment, I knew this experience would be different from anything I’d tried before. She took the time to really understand what I was going through and worked with me to find the right medication approach. With her guidance, I’ve been able to get through some very difficult times and finally feel like myself again.

— Katie G.

Kristen is incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She never made me feel rushed or like just another patient. Instead, she carefully listened and helped me find a treatment plan that actually works for me. My outlook on life has improved so much since starting care with her, and I finally feel like I’m on the right path.

— Angela F.

I was referred to Kristen by a friend, and I’m so glad I made the appointment. She really took the time to understand my history and explain my options in a way that made me feel comfortable and informed. Since starting medication under her care, I’ve noticed real, positive changes in my daily life. I feel more balanced, focused, and hopeful.

— Dan T.

After struggling to find the right provider, I was relieved to meet Kristen. She approaches care thoughtfully and works closely with you to find the right medication and dosage. This hasn’t felt like a typical appointment — it’s been a collaborative process that’s helped me feel more stable and in control of my mental health.

— Nicole G.

Kristen Ryan, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Founder, Balanced Minds Psychiatry

Kristen Ryan is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Balanced Minds Psychiatry. She provides comprehensive psychiatric care for teens and adults, including diagnostic evaluation and medication management, with a thoughtful, individualized approach.

Kristen specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and hormone-related mental health conditions, including PMDD and perimenopause. She has a particular interest in the intersection of hormones and mental health, an area that is often overlooked, yet deeply impactful.

With over two decades of experience in healthcare, Kristen’s background spans both critical care and behavioral health settings, including inpatient and outpatient care for individuals with complex mental health and substance use needs. Her clinical experience, combined with advanced training in psychopharmacology and trauma-informed care, allows her to approach treatment with both depth and perspective.

Her approach is collaborative, grounded, and patient-centered. She takes time to understand each individual’s story, lifestyle, and goals, recognizing that meaningful care extends beyond symptom management. When appropriate, she integrates supportive therapy into medication management visits, creating space for both clinical progress and personal insight.

Kristen is known for creating a warm, non-judgmental environment where patients feel genuinely heard and supported. She believes in meeting people where they are and helping them move forward with clarity, confidence, and practical tools for change.

Outside of her clinical work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and staying engaged with ongoing learning in mental health care.

Brittany Wynne, RN
Practice Administrator & Care Coordinator

Brittany Wynne is a Registered Nurse with a background in critical care, care coordination, and patient advocacy. She brings strong clinical insight, organization, and compassionate communication to her role as Practice Administrator and Care Coordinator at Balanced Minds Psychiatry.

Brittany supports patients with scheduling, care coordination, documentation, and general practice questions, and is often the first point of contact for individuals seeking care. She understands that reaching out for mental health support- particularly for those who have felt overlooked or underserved—can be challenging. She is committed to creating a respectful, trauma-informed, and judgment-free experience, ensuring that patients feel supported, informed, and valued from their very first interaction.

In addition to her nursing experience, Brittany has held leadership and community health roles focused on improving access to care and supporting underserved populations. Her work has reinforced her belief that mental health care is most effective when it is evidence-based, wellness-focused, and rooted in understanding the whole person, not just symptoms. She values accountability, integrity, and continuity of care, and is dedicated to helping the practice function seamlessly so patients can focus on meaningful progress, stability, and long-term well-being.
